How we work
Consultation & Preparation
We’ll have a chat with you to find out about your skin and what you’re hoping to achieve with the illumiFacial. Treatment is perfect for anyone whose skin exhibits congestion, discolouration and visible signs of ageing.
We will also discuss your medical history to ensure there are no contraindications and talk about any supplements, lotions, creams or oils you may be using on your skin at the moment.
If you come for a repeat appointment, we’ll check with you that nothing has changed.
We’ll then clean and prepare you skin for treatment.
Will it hurt?
Clients say that they sometimes feel a tingling sensation when the peel is applied but it doesn’t last for long. The IPL treatment is a bit uncomfortable but doesn’t need any anaethesia. It’s been likened to having an elastic band ‘ping’ on your face and it can feel warm.
If you’re uncomfortable at any point, always let us know.
The Process
Once you’re comfortable, we’ll carry out the four stage illumiFacial process
Cleanse
The first step in achieving clear, healthy, radiant skin will involve a deep cleanse, with your illumiFacial® practitioner using a specialist formulation to remove any impurities
Tri-Fruit Acid Peel
Following a deep cleanse, a unique Tri-Fruit Acid Lynton Fruit Peel will be applied to your skin, for anywhere between 3 – 10 minutes. This peel resurfaces skin texture and decongests pores, priming the skin ready for stage 3 of illumiFacial®
Lynton IPL
We use the Lynton Lumina system for our IPL treatments – a device that you would find in NHS and private hospitals here in the UK.
Post fruit peel, your skin will be at its optimum condition for the application of the award-winning Lynton Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment. This works by both stimulating collagen and targeting any discolouration on your skin, e.g. freckles, pigmentation, vascular breakouts, general redness. In most cases, the results are instant, providing you with dramatically clearer, firmer skin
Hydrate & Protect
To help maximise the results of your illumiFacial® treatment, a trio of specialist serums will be applied to your skin post-IPL, helping soothe, regenerate and protect your skin
You might experience a bit of redness, warmth and a tingling feeling after each area of skin is treated. We’ll apply a calming gel to help reduce this.
Treatments are usually completed within an hour.
After Care
You may experience a superficial tingling feeling on the skin and you may see a darkening of pigment spots before they flake away – this means the treatment has worked perfectly in providing you with a more even, flawless skin tone.
As well as clearer, healthier skin, you will also experience an ongoing improvement to the firmness and plumpness of your skin in the following months post-treatment, as new collagen is stimulated deep within the skin tissue.
There may be some redness and slight swelling for a couple of hours after the treatment. Most people experience no other side effects but very rarely a small blister could form or the skin may become temporarily lighter or darker.
We’ll let you know when you can use products on the treated area again.
If you experience any unexpected reactions after treatment, please get in touch with us immediately.
